I live in Houston, have almost all my life. It is unwise to write off Texas as hopelessly red.
You know, Los Angeles, NYC, and San Antonio have not had openly glbt mayors. Houston does. I am working to elect a transgender candidate to the Houston City Council.
The Texas Legislature is heavily Republican, but anti-gay bills are not making it the way they did 10 or 20 years ago.

    Censorship is rogue government.

Battleground Texas at every opportunity, because the demographic and generational shifts guarantee that Texas will turn Blue, and GOTV can advance that by at least one election cycle.

I have in the past written several Diaries urging support for Southern Progressives in Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas specifically, and indeed in every Red state. Also about when each state might tip on various issues, and when we might be able to turn the rascals out and undo the filibuster and the gerrymander. Also, replace Scalia and Kennedy, the oldest Antediluvian and the equally old swing voter on SCOTUS.

That should shift the Overton Window to the gap between Democrats and Progressives, and cut out the racists, bigots, and the rest of the War on Everyone.

important - Bachmann's seat certainly is, Texas too. It was mostly about "while things like drones, immigration and the environment aren't."
