    You have a right to your opinion, but we cannot forget that there have been many groups in our society that were disliked or feared for many reasons. There were biblical justifications to slavery, and many nativists disliked Eastern European Immigrants and felt as though they didn't want the country "overrun by foreigners." If we've moved past this hatred or mistrust for other groups, we can do so with other groups. We should learn from the mistakes of our past, not repeat them.

    Also, I never assumed anything in my post. This is not an attempt to demonize, but it's rather an attempt examine our history of xenophobia. "Ignorance" and "bigotry" were not mentioned, so I'm wondering why you mentioned it?
