aquifer and I care about it as much as the boreal forest in my country. In fact I'm astounded that Transcanada would even think about going near it. It's a vital water supply.

    •  Thanks for this information, Agethena. It's most (0+ / 0-)

interesting that the company has 1300 employees in the US.  How many of them are US citizens?  I would bet that many are foreign contractors.

Furthermore, people in America and Washington are being told that the pipeline will create 20K to 100K jobs when we know that it will only create about 35 jobs in the US that are permanent and about 3900 temporary jobs, most of which will be filled with foreigners.

IL Congressman Peter Roskam sent me a letter stating "Last year, a group of House Democrats sent a letter to President Obama telling him that the pipeline would "create 20,000 direct jobs" and "spur the creation of 118,000 spin-off jobs."  Roskam is a Republican.  Which Democrats came up with those completely misleading numbers?

      •  Obviously, the 20K direct jobs and 118K contractor (0+ / 0-)

ot "spin-off" jobs will be created in Alberta, Canada and foreign oil tankers to ship the increased amount of asphalt that the Canadians want to dig up and use the US to pipe and refine for them.  And, yet they have the State Department's contractors handling the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement concluding that greenhouse gas emissions will not be significantly impacted.  Yeah ... right.

The American people are being sold a dirty bill of goods and should demand that the President and Secretary of State reject the Keystone XL Pipeline permit.
