  •  A war on terror (1+ / 0-)

like a war on drugs, is a war without end, a war in which our actions result in reactions and thus perpetual war. It does not take a powerful, technologically advanced military to engage in terrorist activities.

We know this and so do the powers that be.

We do need a pretext to justify the quest for global dominance that BigAl mentions in his comment. A war on terror is the perfect cover.

With our actions we can create "terrorists" anywhere we choose, anywhere US interests might be at stake. We can also help to create terrorist bugimen through an obliging media or through operations on the "dark side" tasked with staging false flag events which can then be blamed on those we wish to demonize.

Forget about any help from the "MSM". They are not on the side of those of us who desire peace, freedom and prosperity for all. They are there to promote the establishment of which they are a part and to play an important role in garnering support through misinformation, selective and one-sided reporting and outright propaganda.

The proponents are many. They are powerful and extremely wealthy. There is an interesting diagram depicting the various nodes of the elite power structure. It is copyrighted so I will not post it in this comment. It may be seen at this link, scroll down to "... maintaining and extending global dominance".

Noam Chomsky in his book Hegemony or Survival, published in 2003, notes that that:

U.S. foreign policy – whether controlled by Republican or Democratic administrations – still follows the same agenda of gaining access to lucrative resources and maintaining U.S. world dominance.

A serious financial implosion, a serious lack of political support at home and around the world, or some other unforeseen events could delay or end the quest for global hegemony.

Meanwhile the war on terror and dirty wars will go on.
