    Perhaps the only company ever to go broke on a "Cost Plus" contract.  Their license built Corsair, F3A-1, was so poorly built that they were restricted to the US for training and couldn't be sent to combat groups.

    OTOH the Buffalo was the first monoplane the Navy bought for carrier operations.
