  •  Your situation is different (8+ / 0-)

But, back about seven years ago, I had plumber replace all the hot/cold water pipes in my home using flexible PEX tubing. The original PVC pipes were falling apart and I had leaks everywhere.

Since this is a mobile home and it's up off the ground, it was an easy job that cost me around $2500. It took the plumber and his son a day to do the entire job--kitchen, two bathrooms, laundry room, and outside faucets.

But, your situation is entirely different and will require a lot more work to open things up.

I really don't understand why they ever built houses on slabs like yours. That seems to be a potential time bomb that will eventually cost the homeowner a lot of money.

By all means, get multiple estimates. My plumber did an excellent job and his quote was at least $1,000 less than the others in spite of having the best reputation in town.

Good luck getting this sorted out.

The only trouble with retirement is...I never get a day off!
