  •  Question (3+ / 0-)

Although you clearly intend your designation of "hit and run diarist[s]" as a pejorative directed at the President of the Sierra Club on her first workproduct here, the real question is whether "hit and run diarist" is defined anywhere in DK-land and whether being a "hit and run diarist" violates any DK rules?

    •  It is not a violation of any rule (4+ / 0-)

But, IME, the true power of the Daily Kos community comes from engaging in the comments, from taking the time to listen to people, not just drop a missive from 30,000 feet and run. The community wants to be part of the conversation.

Imagine posting a Reddit IAMA and then not sticking around to answer any questions. :-)

Fry, don't be a hero! It's not covered by our health plan!

    •  Not a formal rule, per se (1+ / 0-)

But very much considered the polite thing to do. If you're going to write a diary, then you should answer people's questions, you should engage with them.

While I realize that the executive director of Sierra Club is a busy person, that person should still be willing to answer any questions that anybody has.

      •  This diary is an example of the Sierra Club (4+ / 0-)

doing necessary and appropriate coalition work as a Democratic organizational participant in paying attention to SC's political stewardship and participation in the Democratic Party Coalition.

As a Sierra Club member that is what I want the Sierra Club to be doing as a Democratic Party influenced leadership entity participating in Democratic Party coalitions with other organizational entities with big stakes in the Democratic Party.

The Sierra Club, as a conservation stewardship organization and as part of the Democratic Party coalition appropriately carries out this kind of thing by participating, in this case, with other Democratic coalition members interested in the justice, human rights and public health aspects immigration problems.

And please note, this is not a discussion about population policy.....  but having said that I must also say that Sierra Club should also stand with Planned Parenthood Advocates on the matter of abortion rights and reproducttive health care.....just for the record.

I encourage the Sierra Club to have these coalition positions and activities whenever possible because at regular times the Sierra Club does a lot of tangling with Democrats who are members of AFL-CIO building and construction trade unions....something not so helpful to the overall Democratic Party coalition.

      •  You are absolutely correct, however.... (4+ / 0-) expecting that Michael Brune ought to participate in the commentary discussion in the diaries that he posts.....and he does not do that presently.

Allison Chin should feel and be welcomed at Daily Kos as a Sierra Club volunteer.
