    I commiserate.
I lost my job after my cancer diagnosis two years ago. Fortunately, I guess, the diagnosis was severe enough that I qualified quickly for SSDI. (Fortunately, my health has stabilized.) And fortunately, I am married and my husband makes a reasonable income. Otherwise, no telling where we'd be living.
Unfortunately, he does so by working four part-time jobs. And we are now paying for health insurance premiums totally out of pocket.
I'll elaborate on the insight that evokes for me below. Meanwhile, the major point of my comment is to offer my sympathy for you and everyone else in this awful plight.

Some DKos series & groups worth your while: Black Kos, Native American Netroots, KosAbility, Monday Night Cancer Club. If you'd like to join the Motor City Kossacks, send me a Kosmail.

Last week I did 2 interviews for jobs, both are 40k+, in turf, my field of academic endeavor. Both were 2 hrs long, a good sign.

I will beat the odds, I have that track record. :~)

Hoping some of that rubs off on you.....
