  •  As an investor XOM is a great stock to own but it (0+ / 0-)

    is a horrible corporate citizen.
    I do feel the disinvestment pressure at this site but if you
    are dependent on ROR in this zero return climate you can't
    just junk it.
    My hope is that the natural gas glut (which is temporary)
    kills off Big Coal and that gas giant XOM is the lesser of the two evils. Replacing pulverized coal with combined cycle gas turbines is the fastest way to reduce GHG.

    •  There are other great stocks (0+ / 0-)

      which don't depend on destroying the environment.  While studies show that some investors would be willing to pay a premium for socially constructive investments, experience has shown those investments actually outperform the market.  

      So even ROI is no excuse.
