you.  It's just a matter of time.

And then your choice will be (1) reclassifying your precious AR15s as Class 3, or (2) banning them, period.

    Which do you prefer?

      Other than this.
      Or This.

There is a reason why Obama's gun control proposals failed so spectacularly.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

grandfathered in?  A new law reclassifies AR15s as class 3 and says they can't be sold at all for a short period; say from the date the law is enacted until three months or six months later.  All owners as of the date of the law have those three or six months to apply for a class three licence and must be issued that licence.  When sales resume the buyer needs to have a class 3 licence, and new applications for that licence get the usual scrutiny.  Would that work?  It might take a while to get all of those firearms out of the hands of the people who shouldn't have them, but people don't live forever.

      •  Perhaps it would be technically possible, but (0+ / 0-)

I could see a serious court challenge under the provision of the AR15 being the very definition of in common use.  In practical terms it would be all but impossible to get sufficient support for such a measure.

      •  that is indeed how Class 3 was originally establis (0+ / 0-)

Despite all the paranoia from the gun nuts, no US law has EVER confiscated any gun that was already legally owned. None.  Not a one.
