Is the closest modern day equivalent to George Carlin that I've found.  Words escape me as I try to find the right way to express myself about these two great men.

A person's word used to be their contract, now people use contracts to get out of keeping their word.

... are THE Best, bar none.  I can fall in love in a heartbeat when I hear a nerdy comedy routine.  Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are excellent at what they do, which probably explains their huge fan base.  Their writers must be geniuses (at least they are in my imagination).

No one can replace George Carlin and I miss him VERY much!

In terms living comedians deconstructing and putting back together words (depending on the subject), I'll also go with Lewis Black, plus a guy whose video someone published last night in C&J, named Tim Minchin (This Video is NSFW and Do NOT play it with kids around, or else use ear phones/buds to listen to it on a laptop!!!).  Robin Williams has been a perennial favorite of mine for years.

Nerdy women comics include Lily Tomlin (I remember when she first started out on TV), Ellen DeGeneres, Joy Behar, Kathy Griffin, and Tina Fey.

In keeping with the theme of this post, here's Tim Minchin on Religion:

        Sam Kinison.

He grew up in that environment and understood it very well.

I feel privileged to have seen him in '88 in Tucson, AZ.

Republican tax policies have led to financial conditions which have caused Republicans to demand cuts to programs they have always opposed.
