    Russia would veto any Security Council resolution authorizing intervention.

    So, logically, we MUST jump in & lead a "coalition of the willing" so that Sunni fundamentalists can rule Syria instead of the Alawis.

    This is a raging sectarian war that is threatening to spread through the entire Fertile Crescent. One in which all sides are committing atrocities. Saudi Arabia is pushing a nakedly sectarian (Wahhabi Sunni) agenda. Turkey maybe less so, but in spite of all its condemnation of the Assad regime, & all the recriminations they have had to deal with so far, the Turkish government has shown no desire to escalate its involvement. They have more sense than that.

    I think we should all be thankful that Obama is in the White House instead of Romney right now. Otherwise we'd already be in the war.
