We miss him here in Portland since he recently moved to Sacramento after many years here.

I hope the Bee doesn't back down.  From his response, it sure doesn't look like Jack is going to.

McClatchy is pretty much the only newspaper chain left that still has investigative reporters and does actual, honest to goodness journalism.  I'm not surprised that this cartoon was published there nor that this cartoonist moved to their paper.

I am, however, always a little surprised that Sacramento has a McClatchy paper.  Sacramento is largely  conservative (sometimes described as just a big cow-town), located in an agricultural area, even though it's the state capitol.

      •  The Bee is the McClatchy newspaper (5+ / 0-)

The Sacramento Bee is the flagship for McClatchy and has been around for more than 150 years. It has a conservative history (for example, supporting internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII.) The Bee also emphasizes the best of conservatism. It is pro-conservation and has veered towards tree hugging at times. It was pro-Lincoln (and anti-slavery) during the Civil War.

The Bee also has a progressive history. It has always been pro-union and has evolved on issues like the death penalty.
