  •  you gotta love "compete in the global economy" (24+ / 0-)

Yup, those jobs will come flowing back the minute Americans can compete with slave-, near-slave-, and child-labor.

    Until then... not so much.

Just saw one of those articles at some obscure site which you just know is foretelling the future: Chinese wages are getting so high companies are considering moving things back to Mexico.

Actual Democrats is the surest, quickest. route to More Democrats

    •  Wasn't there a US Rep. (5+ / 0-)

from Tennessee a few years back who was actually quoted as saying American wages need to be lowered to be more in line with third world countries?

liberal bias = failure to validate or sufficiently flatter the conservative narrative on any given subject

The new low-wage havens are Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia.

    •  the chinese have a 'work ethic' (0+ / 0-)

      we have mostly forgotten.

i know that's how repubs see it.... until the only alternative is eating sparrows they will keep grinding us down a bit faster than the dems, which is the purpose of voting, sorta like catholics who know the church is BS but hanker for the nostalgia, the incense, the ritual.

the dems message is "love us, we're the underdog, we'll do it right next time"

      and then they never do...

so i think voting is more of an affirmation than anything else, and though a great part of this site is dedicated to elections as any sports fan roots for his team, what i love about dkos is the part that's already looking forward to a world which will have outgrown the childish indulgence of rah rah horserace politics-as-we-know-it, and are brainstorming not only how to get there, but what we'll do then, who we will be, what are our longterm goals for the human family and the fate of this gorgeous planet we have been destined to husband, (but are now treating like a homicidal domestic abuser).

politics may be the bottleneck that's slowing us down with its arcane stupidity, but will be the only way through ultimately, unless the whole social fabric breaks down and violence becomes the sole arbiter of power.

so we better understand and participate in changing politics too, but just not see it as an end in itself, the thrill of the chase etc., just more white alpha male patriarchal shit, 99% of it.

it's just the most likely means to a better end... so i salute those whose vision and contributions here look further than the next elections, who see the moon as well as the finger.

and i am too glad for those who are helping the spadework of getting candidates elected who won't betray their principles at the first lobbyist's dollar wave.

this all makes dkos the fountain of good it can be and often is.

      peace out

      why? just kos..... *just cause*
