      and thanks, srkpy.  Yes, what's going on with academia and research?  Also, it's a favorite spot for intel agencies, apparently, according to some things I have read recently.

      I'll grab that one for tomorrow's diary too. Thanks again. I'm always eager to get links to good pieces that readers find interesting. All of these good people and great minds can become a really good filter, bringing together the best stuff and leaving all the junk and propaganda behind.

      •  I have been in academia for awhile now but (5+ / 0-)

        am leaving. I have direct experience of exactly the situation that the author is describing. NYU is a prime example. As a full-time but non-tenured faculty member I always felt menaced by the system. I may write about this at some point if I ever get through my writer's block, which actually feels more like straight-up laziness than any kind of block. lol. :D
