I was at a party of Democrats tonight, just home now after the show, and before it began we were all talking about the president's masterful put down of Trump that year---while all the while Trump's huge face turned beat red and puffed up even huger---almost made his hair look small. It was a funny, thank-you-God-for-small-favors moment BEFORE we knew what was to happen the next day, and what was on the president's mind that night. Wish they would precede anything Trump has to say with that clip.

In a world of so many assholes who get coverage that should make any journalist blush, Trump is right where he always wants to be, on top of that list.

Remember, the Wednesday before the WHCD the President released his long form birth certificate. I was lucky enough to sit 15 feet away from him that very evening at a fund-raiser in NYC. The evisceration of the Donald followed on Saturday and the smoking of bin Laden on Sunday. I decided that we did have a President with nerves of steel after that weekend.
