  •  Professor Challenger + OT Stuff (4+ / 0-)

I was thinking about Professor Challenger  and your old Pop Thought column about Mary Sues.

Talking about Mary Sueism, I wonder if Merv could be mistaken for a Mary Sue just because he's blonde and blue eyed? Even though that's really Muse Abuse.

Or if Mary Sueness the trouble with the galaxy's ultimate busty amazon? But being her fatter, frumpier, less athletic daughter is a lot more relatable?

Otherwise, I was a little grumpy yesterday because was Free Comic Book Day and there was no Merv or Revellia or Wingding smiling up from the racks. Being a day later with some sleep has improved my mood. But I still feel that InterStellar OverDrive, Fun Rockets, and ISU were the three big cheated to the marrow points in my life.

Here is a daydreaming out loud idea. How about a Leonine Press sampler for next year's Free Comic Book Day? It could be a three-fer of teasers for the Captain Saucer reboot (the one with Nevil and Wingding), InterStellar OverDrive, and Sci Fi Guy! Captain Saucer would be an excerpt from the first story up to when Emperor Laminar shows up. Sci-Fi Guy! would be the new prologue (as Chapter 00.00.00) and a four-color redraw of the first chapter up to when Tom the Catgirl iBeams into the comic shop. ISOD could be an excerpt of a new story from the new continuity starting with a reveal that it's not really the turn of the '60s but a Googie flavored retro future and a certain all-American teen girl is actually an immigrant kid from the Tau Ceti system. And there's another reveal that Chief of Security Flexia is her mother. Then Wayne, Didi, and Winnie come on board as new management for the L4 SpaceStation. The overly extroverted Winnie gets the frustration of being out alpha-femaled by Flexia just standing there doing nothing.
