BDUs replaced the older olive drabs sometime in the 1980s, and ACUs replaced BDUs in 2005. I know, I was wearing BDUs when I was issued DCUs and then ACUs in Afghanistan toward the end of 2005. It was an ugly mess because people were wearing the woodland style BDUs, the desert style DCUs, and the new ACUs all at the same time because of the implementation program.

So, my point was that people were wearing BDUs as late as early 2006, so you don't have to be old to know what they are or to have worn them.
