I haven't had a Black-headed Grosbeak here, though I had the occasional visitor in San Rafael. My House Finches and Mourning Doves are daily visitors, though for whatever reason, the Scrubbies visit the yard and shrubs, but very seldom my feeders. Guess they get enough to eat in other places and don't need to hit the crowded feeders. Not that a crowded feeder would stop them from landing and clearing out everyone else if they wanted to. They're like the fat kid diving into the swimming pool -- they couldn't care less.

very often. I put out raw peanuts for them - which they love. I've even seen a Jay drop a big juicy bug in favor of a peanut!
