      is a bracing picture a lot of the time. This from when tropical storm Allison hung around for a while in 2001.

        Was just poking out its exhaust pipes and the rest of the truck was underwater on I10 at Studemont. That was a hell of a flood. But you know, Houston, while not for everyone, is an amazing place. It is the second most diverse city after NYC, has incredible arts culture, a vibrant and dominating gay community in the central part of the city, lots and lots of Democrats, amazing and prolific restruaunts and nightlife, world class museums, and really cool architecture. There are certainly negatives, like 98* with 98% humidity for 4 months of the year. And giant flying cockroaches. And awful pollution. And lots of crime and corrupt police. But the place rocks.

        The place was utterly dark—the oubliette, as I suppose, of their accursed convent.
