    shmuelman, if calculating sales tax is just way too hard and way too expensive for an online company to do, your state must not have any brick-and-mortar stores with less than $10 million in sales, either.

    No matter where you live, I bet your state has plenty of businesses who meet the challenge.

    My advice: entrepreneurs who don't think they can manage to collect the sales tax, and pass their business costs on to their customers, shouldn't set up an online business. Go do something else.

    Customers who don't think they can afford to pay the sales tax for items purchased online should just not buy anything online.

    Clearly, people who sell stuff online and people who buy stuff online really like being spared the sales tax.
