      One of the greatest books written by an American.

      Twain was startled by and an admirer of his skill.

      His ability to write clearly and concisely is one of the reasons the Union won the Civil War.

      The second volume is a bit rushed...you know, the whole dying as he wrote them thing...and some errors creep in but still...

      Not reading Grant's Memoir is almost like not reading Huckleberry Finn.
