    The good was that it was a blunt instrument that would hurt the more powerful and less powerful equally, except of course to the extent that the less powerful are more vulnerable as a defining aspect of their less-powerfulness.  But still, by US standards it was an egalitarian outcome.  Now, predictably, our politicians are chipping away at sequestration and they won't stop until spending on the more powerful is back to where it was before.  It will be, in a nutshell, a Republican budget and that party won't have any incentive to give ground to achieve a real budget since the de facto one will do everything they want and nothing they don't.
