    Although, the really pertinent literary comparison is to J.R.R. Tolkien's story of the dwarves of Moria, who, in their industrious pursuit of silver, dug too deep, & unleashed an ancient evil: the fire-demon Balrog, whose nature clearly has no metaphorical connection to toxic, polluting, tar sands-accelerated global warming.  

    I hear the right loves Tolkien.

    It's time to start letting sleeping dinosaurs lie, lest we join them in extinction by our consumption of them.

      You'd be hard pressed to cram more medievalist romanticism and Anglo-Catholic Tory propaganda in one place.

        idyllic age. Incidentally, much as I love Tolkien's work for other reasons, the dear professor didn't believe in constitutional monarchy. He wanted his monarchy straight, feudal style, with a king and his courtiers and tenants-in-chief. Not of that bloody constitutional rot for him!
