  •  If 61 were being blocked, I'd be with you (6+ / 0-)

But its hard to get behind carping at the Republicans when there are NO nominees to be considered.

    •  That was the point of the diary I think (6+ / 0-)

The lack of nominees is due to Senator's unwillingness to make recommendations of potential, and acceptable, nominees. That has been the tradition, and they consider it their prerogative.

“Texas is a so-called red state, but you’ve got 10 million Democrats here in Texas. And …, there are a whole lot of people here in Texas who need us, and who need us to fight for them.” President Obama

      •  Obama should ask Democratic Congressmen/women (3+ / 0-)

to suggest nominees in the states with two Republican senators who won't offer suggestions.  Then he could do some arm twisting to the tune of, "If you won't suggest somebody, I'll let Democrats do it."  It wouldn't hurt for Obama to float trial balloons of some really left wing nominations to soften up the Republicans and public opinion.  "If you don't like my nominee, at least suggest one yourself."

We're all pretty strange one way or another; some of us just hide it better. "Normal" is a dryer setting.

      •  No, the lack of nominees is because Pres hasn't (5+ / 0-)

selected any. Senators, by tradition, provide names, but the President doesn't have to wait, and doesn't' have to take their recommendations. There is an actual crisis in the Courts, the President can, and should, act, to the extent that he can, to help fix the crisis, whining about Republicans not providing names is silly.

Now if the President's nominees are being stalled (as they are) in the Senate, then we should all make a stink.
