  •  Why bring her ethnicity into this? (0+ / 0-)

    Just for the alliteration?

    •  Your ignorance is showing. (8+ / 0-)

      "Tejana" is not ethnic; it refers to someone from Texas, which where her roots are, not to mention her funding. She does not represent the people of New Mexico but rather her backers, which are Texas oil money (as well as some Colorado developers). If you knew about New Mexico and our feelings about Texas money running and ruining our state, you might understand. And the HR is really uncalled for.

      •  So why not say Tea Party Texan? (0+ / 0-)

        I'm skeptical that you'd call a white woman from Texas "Tejana"

        •  Please remove your HR from jan4insight. (10+ / 0-)

          During the 2010 election, many Dems in this state referred to her as Susana Tejana. The person who started it was Brian Colón, who ran for Lt. Gov against her. He is Hispanic and would absolutely not use an ethnic slur. He was just accusing her of being a carpetbagger, which doesn't go over well in NM, especially if the person is from Texas. The whole thing is really silly since, while she was born in Texas, she has lived in NM for most of her adult life. I'm sure jan4insight was referring back to that time, and meant no more harm than Brian did. Also, Susana did receive just under a half million dollars from Robert Perry, Texas oilman.

          With this explanation, would you be willing to remove the HR?

          White = Tea Party Texan
          Latino = Tea Party Tejano/a

          And I say this as a guy with brown skin with relatives from Eagle Pass to Austin, and Houston to Mercedes.

          If you really want to talk about ethnicity, fine. Democratic and liberal policies are better policies for Latinos/Hispanics/Tejanos or whoever. I think it's more than fair to point out she's all for making life worse for the ethnic group she happens to be a part of because she should know better. And in fact, is joined up with a group who specifically target her ethnicity.

          Spanish terms are ubiquitous in NM --- nothing ethnic in it at all.

          you are wrong on all counts - including misidentifying the ethnicity of the NM  governor. (I didn't bring this up in my first reply because I don't see the term Tejana as having an ehtnic basis.)

          You clearly are making judgments on something you're clueless about. It's way past time to remove the needless HR. So when are you going to get to it????
