I know you worry about peak oil, and food, and too many babies. And you should write about whatever the spirit urges you to say. But I enjoy your poetry most when you're fixing tables or laying plots for vegetables. There's politics all around Daily Kos, but your little windows of life as you live it are a different oasis. Here's another William Carlos Williams:

    This Is Just To Say

    I have eaten
    the plums
    that were in
    the icebox

    and which
    you were probably
    for breakfast

    Forgive me
    they were delicious
    so sweet
    and so cold

      my wife's
      Uncle Randall
      would say.

We live in the same house,
and food that one puts in the fridge,
      might get eaten by another.

      Doesn't happen much,
but that poem truly sounds like words from our house.

      I truly agree,
      when I write a little
      slice of life diary
      or comment,
it's easier to make it feel strong,
since all I'm doing is what I was taught
      in high school English class:
      write clearly,
      include some very specific details,
to help the reader visualize it,
to help the reader feel it.

If I'm writing about actual experience,
it's easy for me to do that,
and many of my readers feel
that they've lived a little bit of my life,
      right alongside me.

      And that feels good,
      to take my readers
      along for the ride.

      Feels good.

      But as we travel,
      if you travel with me,
I'm going to talk about things I've never done,
      pain I've never felt,
      but pain that's coming.

      I need to know
      I've done what I could
      to sound the alarm.

      Thanks again.
