    The former is somebody who metaphorically is like a member of a theatrical troupe who will do anything to get the show on.

    The latter is a member of a police or military unit.

    Please let's keep these separate, because when you say somebody is a "trouper" (even sarcastically) you are referring to something completely different to a "trooper".
