    •  Not surprising! When approx. 2/3 don't know the... (10+ / 0-)

...name of their representative in congress. And, only 27% of the public know the names of their two Senators. We're talking a LOT of exceptionally low-info voters in this country. Far worse than in many other countries, and much more surreal than many high-info Americans may realize!

      •  It's Training, to run a Small Business! (0+ / 0-)

Squeeze in One Place, it comes out in another...

        Even Ezra Klein understands this:

The original form was lengthy because it included the forms for a family of six. If you were a single adult, you just ignored most of those pages.

The new form is short because it’s only for a single adult. But if you head to the HHS Web site, you can find the new form for family coverage. It, too, is shorter: A mere 12 pages rather than 21. But it only includes the forms for … two people. If your family includes more than two people, the form advises you to “make a copy of Step 2: Person 2 (pages 4 and 5) and complete.”

The result is that the new form for a family of six is 20 pages long and includes a substantial amount of time spent in front of a copier.

So the new form really is less intimidating for single adults, who now get an application catering to them. But it’s a bigger pain in the neck for a family of four, who now get an application catering to families of two — and to a media that equates fewer pages with better forms and laws. As larger families will now find out, shorter and simpler are not actually synonyms.

The whole "is the form too long" is an entertaining sideshow. The real story here is that Obama just got personally involved in the public relations. And have I mentioned lately what an asshole Obama is? Loading more work onto families of four so he can "win the week" on a PR exercise?

We need Medicare for All. Then, the only form you need would be your birth certificate.

        From the comments:
The part I like about the forms is that we get to start doing taxes twice a year. Once with real data and once with fantasy data ... under threat of perjury ... and how can you lie about a fantasy future?

Oh man, they've turned every individual into a small business!

You've got to estimate your tax in advance. Meaning now what is one of the more difficult and stressful parts of being a small business person is being shoved onto ordinary citizens.

You just can't get paid enough to fluff this!

The politicians keep changing every couple of years - who can keep up what with two or more jobs to do?

There's no easy way to find out much about the different candidates, and how they stand on different issues.

    •  No, I put this squarely on HHS… (0+ / 0-)

…since Andy Griffith passed away last summer, I haven't seen HHS run any ads to let people know how the PPAHCA will affect them.

And to be honest since I have health insurance, am married, am in good health, and my wife doesn't need birth control, I'm not really sure how (or even if) the PPAHCA will affect my family.
