  •  Not thrilled about Gomez being the opponent (6+ / 0-)

I'm of the school of thought, though, that the confluence of Scott Brown, the restive national mood, and the disaster that was Atty. Gen. Coakley's campaign was really lightning in a bottle for the Massachusetts Republican Party. If Rep. Markey stays sharp, Rep. Lynch falls in line, and Gabriel Gomez can't walk across Cape Cod Bay from Plymouth to Provincetown, we should win this -- but we can't get complacent. If Elizabeth Colbert Busch can win in SC-01, Gabriel Gomez can win here.

    •  I'm of that same school on MA-Sen. (7+ / 0-)

Complacency is never a good thing, but by the same token, Elizabeth Colbert Busch only looks set to win SC-01 because the Republican nominee is the kind of candidate who's been just about entirely abandoned by his own party.

You really can't compare SC-01 to MA-Sen, for no other reason because our guy didn't leave office in disgrace for an affair that happened (while he was supposedly on the Appalachia trail, no less!)

Gomez isn't even that strong of a candidate, he's really not the same caliber opponent Scott Brown was in 2009-2010.
