  •  What's the purpose of Ques. 9? (5+ / 0-)

Are they trying to determine if people have PECs, or if they need additional medical care?  And how severe does the "limitations in activities" have to be for a person to check "Yes"?

    •  Medicaid - In some states, that could potentially (11+ / 0-)

be a Medicaid qualification.  That may not be the only reason, but it's certainly one reason.

Depending on how a person answers any follow-up questions to #9, it's possible that the person may be directed to SSI, SSDI, and/or their state's Voc Rehab program.  But that part of my answer is simply theorizing.

    •  Question 9 on which form? (5+ / 0-)

The form for single people has:

      24. Do you have a physical, mental, or emotional health condition that causes limitations in activities (like bathing, dressing, daily chores, etc.) or live in a medical facility or nursing home? Yes no
      Is this what you mean?

This is just my guess, based on how that kind of question is asked in govt forms I'm familiar with.  On the forms I've seen, this question is usually intended to determine whether you need another person to help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) in order to keep living at home.
