  •  OT: A bit trippy but (12+ / 0-)

I have the same issue with my right eye, which was my good eye, the left being "lazy." I bought pinhole "glasses," which you can get for a little as $5. Not really glasses but plastic with holes punched in them.

I got interested when I was having an eye-exam and the Doctor was indignant when I said I have "double vision" meaning I see the thing and next to it an "echo" of the thing. She held up a pinhole monocle and I was reading the eye chart 30-feet away!

Seems technically "double-vision" is not the same as what a layman would call it.

In any case, I can't make myself wear these all day long, it's a bit strange and dark (for the solid plastic). And you shouldn't at all if doing anything which needs peripheral vision. But it's insane how much better I see things when I do wear them. For reading or tv. And for a little while after using them, because I'm really using the muscles I guess, I see without needing my regular glasses.

This all started with partial retinal detachment surgery.  Once the gas bubble started to decrease enough that I could see, my vision in that eye was very blurry.  I could see a main image,  numerous ghost images surrounding it.  I could see fairly well through binoculars, and in the multiple small holes attachment thingy when I was doing all the followup visits.  It has gotten much worse in cloudiness since then.  Going outside, my vision is like a digitally edited picture with extreme contrast.

And I have to look through them at a specific angle to get "unblurred."

What I do sometimes just for the heck of it. I hold my flat hand up to my eye and peak through the little space between the fingers and I get a non-blurred vision. I imagine if I put some little holes in a piece of paper, holes a bit bigger than a toothpick, say, I'd get the same effect.

Might be a way to test out the usefulness of the idea before you go buy any.

In any case, hope you can get your vision back. Maybe the ACA will make it doable. I'm sure hoping that for myself.
