  •  Money from the book (23+ / 0-)

You make some valid points, but there has never been a real question about the money from the book. I had even talked with some principal and several teachers about charities to give the proceeds from the book to. One of my fellow teachers suggested a foundation or fund that we could set up and provide money to other schools that have gone through horrible situations like we did after the tornado. This was all publicized in my blog and on Facebook, both of which our administrators read on a regular basis. As for being done in a public forum, it has been secrecy that has allowed the mistreatment of respected teachers in our school district to flourish. If I shut my mouth and say nothing, it plays into the hands of the rogue administrator and perpetuates the climate of fear she has created in our school system.

    •  I tend to agree that those who are the most open (6+ / 0-)

generally have the most valid case to make.

And those who pushes the edges will find pushback.  It's inevitable and each person decides how far to push and the consequences they are willing to bear.

School districts tend to operate conservatively. And small towns even more so.

but let it be said, IANAL.

There is too much secrecy, too much fear of sunlight.

Yes, it is possible that the other side could make hay from an inadvertent phrase, or disclosure, but it's funny how prosecutors are always quick to gather as much publicity as possible in their attempts to sway public opinion, and jury pools, yet defendants are always advised to remain silent.

The system is corrupt and broken, and a few blog posts won't matter much, either way.

Sometimes a public campaign is the ONLY way to get justice, because "due process" is not designed to acquit people.

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.
