  •  oh yea!! That gop rebranding effort is going over (6+ / 0-)

so well! So I just wandered over to Redstate to see if there was anything interesting....

    GOP Finally Engages Mommy Blogs

Yep - the gop is trying to influence women by going out to the mommy blogs. I'll nutpick some of the best comments so you don't have to.

Dana, the problem is a higher percentage of women respond to emotional arguments. In your link-out to the bomber welfare story and asking do women want to spend money for welfare bombers? Specifically No.

Do women want poor immigrants seeking asylum from Russian persecution to be eligible for welfare? The answer is generally yes.

There is a reason why women support Democrats at a 15%+ higher rate than men and it ain't marketing and it ain't policy. It's a lower rate of critical thinking.

Seriously! Women have "a lower rate of critical thinking".???

Women have as much sense and critical thinking and intelligence and whatever else as men - that fact that more of them come to a different conclusion that you and me does not make them in any way lesser. Statements like the one you made only serve to alienate women.

Alienation is not a logical reaction it is an emotional one.

Sorry scooter, statistically they don't. The fact that a majority of Jews, blacks and Hispanics support Democrats means that the majority of Jews, Blacks and Hispanics are dupes. In that the majority of women support Democrats then the majority of women are dupes.

Not my fault and I will point it out. Sorry it makes you fell bad, but that is because you don't think very good either.

Your efforts are wasted making this argument w/ Tbone. You've probably brushed up against the person who is the very least savvy in messaging to women in Redstate. He once ended an argument with me with "Don't you have laundry to do?" Not exactly a shining star in GOP outreach efforts.

LOL. And you have been doing it ever since? Is it not true that women vote in the majority for Democrats? What percentage of women voted for Obama? What percentage of men voted for Obama? Now, go do the laundry while you try to figure out an apology for the difference.

I don't want us to make only emotional arguments, but we should supplement our logic with emotions to broaden our appeal. For example, in the gun control fight we should spotlight women who have defended themselves with guns from rape (or worse). We can find emotional examples for almost any policy that we advocate if we would just try harder. Actually, yes it is a marketing problem. If they are not engaged in critical thinking by now, they never will be. We have to approach them on their level, and we should be able to.

You are right, we should approach them, on their level. Let's offer a 25% off coupon for L'oreal.

So what is the alternative? doing the same thing over and over again hoping for better electoral results?

Maybe you can live with the satisfaction of being right while the country goes down the drain. I would prefer to fight even in a way that I am not comfortable with.

Maybe it's a lack of critical thinking skills when dealing with govt. They trust the politicians! I know a woman who has her MBA, CPA and is a pro-life mom who truly can't grasp that anything bad is going on with our country. She has fantastic work abilities, but not so smart in real life!
This one here gets the prize!!!!

At least it gets us heard. If our people go into the interview knowing the bias we have a better chance of prevailing despite the slant. Also, bias doesn't always help your cause. Some biased interviewers might misinterpret real conservative answers as being stupid while they might resonate with the public.

We need to be smart about the interviews, too. Any conservative politicians should put in the contract that they get a copy of the unedited interview. That way if the media try to pull any editing flim-flam, we can produce the original tape to show what was really said.

Finally, I do agree with you to some extent. We don't just need people being interviewed, we need our people on the other side as well. For example, this would be one place where Sara Palin could excel. She could be the conservative Oprah.

Yep - R outreach to women is going just fine. If you're a D.

if a habitat is flooded, the improvement for target fishes increases by an infinite percentage...because a habitat suitability index that is even a tiny fraction of 1 is still infinitely higher than zero, which is the suitability of dry land to fishes.

to include in the diary I did mocking the RNC's Women's History Month appreciation press release awhile back.

I'll remember to check there for some nice, juicy constituent-produced evidence refuting their next faux appreciative, bot-generated "celebration."

      Thanks mrsgoo! :)

little hearts. We need to remember in 2014.
