  •  Correct Spelling for "Jets" Too! (0+ / 0-)

Calling the "Jets" the "Jest" pretty much sums up the franchise too.  After a flash in the pan win with Namath, the Jets stumble along from season to season.  Hopes are eternally high at the beginning of the season, only to be crushed as the mistakes pile up during the playing.  The Jets would like a chance to make a deal with Mammon.

You could be a Bengals fan. We share your frustration.

      •  Cleveland Browns Fan Here (1+ / 0-)

My spouse and I are Browns fans through a rather strange evolution.  The sports franchise of my youth was the Baltimore Colts, a number of whose games I was privileged to be able to actually see in person.  By happenstance, I finished my undergraduate education at a university located in Cleveland, where I could follow the fortunes of the Old Cleveland Browns in the local papers readily.  Of course, many years later, the Baltimore Colts moved in the middle of the night to Indianapolis, leaving Baltimore in the lurch and angering me, even though I no longer lived in MD when that happened.  When the Old Cleveland Browns were enticed to Baltimore to play as the Ravens, I was inclinde to root for them, but my spouse persuaded me that true justice demanded that I root for the team which was created as a result of the Colts' selfish move to Indianapolis - the New Cleveland Browns.

I will admit one thing about the New Browns and the Bengals.  The Browns can't really break anyone's heart as the Bengals have managed to do for the last decade.  Everyone knows the New Browns are iffy going into a season, never ever being considered playoff material.  The Bengals have been just good enough to tantalize and they frustrate every year.  I believe that is the true definition of sports hell.
