  •  Exactly, thank you! (8+ / 0-)

We have a crisis management plan at my school.  It gets reviewed every year.  Every staff member has a copy and it is prominently displayed in the room/office.  It has tabs so you can turn directly to the 'crisis' at hand. We have fire and earthquake drills several times a year.

When Clackamas mall was shot up last December (it's 3 blocks from the school) we went into lockdown until the police announced that the guy was in custody (actually he was dead.)  It's the only time we've ever been in lockdown, and it worked just fine.

    •  Yikes, I was extremely upset when (2+ / 0-)

that happened. A family member was working for Macy's at the time and I wasn't sure if she'd been placed at the Lloyd or CTC location.

Preparedness is about practice so you know what to do right away, even if you're not in the best state of mind. Especially handy for earthquakes in Oregon, which are hugely disorienting to experience.

You said the air was singing / it's calling you, you don't believe / These things you've never seen / Never heard, never dreamed.
