    I read the article - wish I could read the study.  But apparently, rather than ask the questions "Do you think Jesus is returning in your lifetime?" "Do you think this means the world will end?" and "Do you think we should worry less about the climate because the world will end?", the researchers ask broad questions and then assume that there is a causal relationship between second coming belief, and climate change denial.  

    Certainly, there is a correlation -- as there is with most things the Republican party stands for.  But correlation is not causation.

    I know people who believe in a Second Coming but a) don't necessarily think it will come in their lifetime and assume it probably won't, and b) believe environmental protection is part of their faith.  

    I think a study like this, and your article, provides a cheap and incorrect explanation to why people oppose efforts to stop climate change.  The #1 reason is not Jesus.  It's not even the #10 reason.  Trying to make it so gets us further from a solution.
