Beet, alx9090 that you aren't seeing anything from Moos' perspective, and aren't willing to.  I'm happy Collins is happy.  But apparently Moos' pain didn't mean anything to you.  There are two sides to this, not just one.

Am I supposed to be livid that they broke up and totally ruined her fantasy of a dream wedding with two point five kids and a big house with a white picket fence, or am I supposed to be mad that it took him until recently to come to terms with and accept his own homosexuality?

Have you been in Moos' position before? You seem to be reacting in a way that something like this touched you personally.

If you say "gullible" real slow, it sounds like "green beans."

Not exactly "left at the altar" sort of thing. She's probably come to terms with it in the past 4 years -- maybe she's even got a new boyfriend who, while not bringing down an NBA player's salary, still treats her right. And maybe she's happy that they never got married only to find out later that he was gay. I don't think it's really germane to the story. If she wants to tell her story later, then fine...maybe her story will show people the collateral damage of forcing people to ultimately live a lie.

    •  Unless you've spoken with Moos (6+ / 0-)

and she's told you about how much pain she was/is in, then what business do you even have trying to scold people on it?

Nobody here has expressed any contempt for her or lack of empathy for her position. Arguing that making Collins out as some sort of villain or cad does not in any way suggest we don't feel for Moos being in that position.

      •  She's said (0+ / 0-)

that it was painful. One person above said she should count herself lucky. That suggests he/she doesn't feel bad for her.

Look I don't think Collins is a villain.

But nor should we be saying that if there are any closeted gays out there reading this they should be going out and dating women and it's all right because of social pressure. Social pressure is bad, but it's better to be true to yourself and not hurt someone else as well.
