but here is a video I made of the flagship Hyatt Hotel, the first one that the Pritzker family constructed (they purchased an existing hotel at LAX prior to this). This is in dilapidated condition in Lincolnwood, IL. But it is finally scheduled to be rehabbed after escaping many orders of demolition.

Anybody know the place? If you have memories, especially videos or pictures of events there, please kosmail me. We're going to glorify this place and we'd love imagery of the old days.

This video is 10 minutes in length, just a few stories of when I parked cars there circa 1968-69.

    •  Dorfman got killed in the parking lot there right? (1+ / 0-)

      I remember that.

Apparently, it was basically a rent-by-the-hour place before it shut down, but it was famous for the Dorfman mob hit before that.

Another decadent one was the Hyatt House in LA, that they used to call the Riot House because all the rock bands stayed there.

      •  Remember it well. (0+ / 0-)

I remember making up Dorfman jokes...
        Hear about the Dorfman Cocktail?
         Five shots and no chaser.
        Hear about the Dorfman Sandwich?
         Served open face.

Tony Rezco and Stuart Levine, modernday Chicago crooks, now both serving time, had a lot of their cocaine-induced business dealings at the hotel.

Peter Epstein owned a Pontiac dealership just a few blocks north on Lincoln. He somehow had Frank Sinatra sing his commercials, seemed like a repayment of some extraordinary nature. They are online, very weird. Peter was our favorite guy, we let him park where he wanted, he tipped large, and he didn't mind us patching out in the back lots with his cars (GTOs, Bonnevilles, and LeMans', if you remember that era).

When my friend Noreen was an assistant manager there in the 90's, she hosted a three day nudist convention. Bizarre.

After being the Hyatt House, it was a Radisson, a Ramada, and finally The Purple Hotel.

Thanks for writing. We are looking for and compiling any and all memories of the place.
