    The party gave up its ideology 30 years ago, and now it bounces around from one moderate Republican position to another so often (and then usually sells those out anyway) that nobody can be sure just what the hell the Dem party DOES stand for now--or if it stands for ANYTHING. Indeed, our "Big Tent" is so big we now welcome even our own enemies inside.

    Obama is not the problem, and never has been.  If we dug up the zombie corpse of FDR or JFK and got it elected, nothing would change. The Party itself is the problem. We no longer have a liberal or progressive party--we have a conservative party and a lunatic-fringe party. NOBODY represents us--except a tiny handful of globlies who are largely ignored and powerless anyway.

    Until that changes, we progressives will remain a tiny and ignored fringe that nobody cares about and nobody pays the slightest attention to, even within our own party.
