      card, a picture of which appears with the subscription options, but got a reply that this credit card type isn't supported?  Have I done something wrong?  Or is it true that you can't take AMEX?

          show options. It's another thing to get your 'backend' payment processing to actually do it after your website hands it off, and/or to get PayPal fully set up to handle cards other than Visa/MC.

          If I glean correctly what your website may be doing, you (or your web master) may have more configuration work to do with Formstack, IFTTT and PayPal. Doing end-to-end testing to get start-ups fully operational always takes more time than expected since there are so many variables and steps that must work logically 'behind the scenes'. You might request some volunteers who have the various card types to work with your team, at least on volunteer basis, to get things working completely.

          Your web designer will need to take into account browsers which may not have Javascript turned on (or blocked) for some of your backend processors. Having some default script-failure logic handling in your own web forms can help in tracing problem. You may have seen web pages which have warning code text that appears and insists 'Javascript' and cookies must be turned on to access these web pages. People may not know how to do all that enabling either, so directing them for help will likely be needed. Web testers should try going through your processing steps with Javascript disabled on the various sites and try to determine what needs to be shown/reported when any of these fail. The hand-offs and hand-backs that go on behind the scenes invisible to the user can be complex to follow. Getting dropped due to a missing cookie or javascript remote call that fails in the middle of this processing can be very confusing.

            AMEX agreement when I got the merchant account. Oops. It's a separate process. So I activated it today after being alerted by Alice and it'll take 48 hours to be possible to process Amex through the form.

            Also, we'll be switching to a different processing system and platform soon (within two weeks) because we're implementing an affiliate program that needs more backend work that paypal payments pro can offer us.

            Thanks for your expertise. Can I call on you if I have questions on the future? I do the front end stuff and form integration and such...I don't do deep coding although I can and have done javascipt, html, css and have some understanding of php. But you sound like you really know your shit...I could use some help in that area fro time to time....;)

              DKos several times a day. And I have some time I can devote to helping out, even if it's just testing and walking through processing steps.  I imagine you have 'sandbox' accounts set up for testing for transaction processing without real money being at stake. I'd just need to be added to the set of users that could help with that.

              I've worked IT in Fortune 500 companies with software, web and database so I have real-world experience. I'm familiar in dealing with 'all that stuff we should have anticipated' snafus and 'how we should have taken more time to get it done it right in the first place' sorts of scenarios, as well as 'how to dig out and get things fixed ASAP' pressure. Always best to put fingers right to work instead of pointing blame when this happens. It can be hard to let people take time for these learning experiences, but that ends up being a key motivator in making staff loyal and work harder. Getting a team used to analyzing and problem solving as a team and expecting to be able to solve the problems and avoid them next time is actually a great managerial achievement.

          variables to set up and configure when money needs to be processed.  

          Need to have a tested way to refund if there are reasons to return money as well.  Sometimes people end up paying multiple times if the process moves too slowly (without sufficient visual cues it is in-process) and they may click 'Back page' and re-send a form again and again.  (Yes, I've done that myself...and I should know better.)
