And they were asked to move the meeting (0+ / 0-)
out of respect or at least postpone it. Instead Chuckie decided to go on as planned and make a big deal out of it. I know the meeting was planned in advance. And even if there was no way to alter the plans they sure as hell could've kept it low-key. But they chose to do exactly the opposite and be as "in your face" about it as possible. Yeah, no "pep rally" attitude there. None whatsoever.
    Did they?
Instead, that hoped-for victory has evaporated and the billboards have vanished...
In addition to canceling a weapons exhibition and scaling back the convention from three days to one, the NRA scrapped a planned reception for U.S. Rep. J.C. Watts of Oklahoma, the fourth-ranking Republican in the House and a sometime spokesman for the NRA. Saturday's session will feature just two scheduled speakers, Heston and NRA executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre.
Oh look!  Somebody turned it into a pep rally!
Anti-gun groups are promising to protest during the convention, and city officials said scaling it back wasn't enough...
Moore also splices in the "cold dead hands" line from a different speech a year later, in order to make the speech sound more inflammatory.

What are you doing to fight the dangerous and counterproductive error of treating dirtbag terrorist criminals as though they were comic book supervillains? I can't believe we still have to argue this shit, let alone on Daily Kos.

many" bad things about the NRA. Not every conceivable insult will be in the bullseye, but there surely would have to be some very dramatic pervarication to completely miss the target. Because NRA clearly brings this shit on itself, and intentionally!

There can be no protection locally if we're content to ignore the fact that there are no controls globally.
