you are correct. I live in NC and used to be quite happy with all the progressive policies in place. The renewables law really spurred innovation and the industry took off here.

When the new R governor was elected I knew what we were in for because I have been following all the misdeeds of the R's for years. I really don't think the full impact of their depravity was apparent to many that voted R here. Yes, it was to some, but not all. I see letters to the editor every day disgusted with some new policy etc, etc.

The new R governor has been pissing people off since he was sworn in. One of the first things he did was disparage the UNC system (it is top grade five star in my book) because they offered liberal arts degrees instead of getting students ready for careers. He actually had the gall to call in just putting butt's in seats.  The wrath of hell couldn't have been worse for him. Professors to students ripped him a new one.

In my opinion it has only gone down hill from there. repealing our renewable incentives, pushing fracking, they want to allow drilling off the NC coast, voter ID laws proposed, uncapping charter school numbers, bill limiting class size to be repealed. I could go on, but it is too painful.

I have come to the same conclusion as you. The people that voted this train wreck in need to understand clearly what they have wrought. Too bad it will drag the rest of us down with them.

    •  People can't bring themselves to accept GOP evil. (6+ / 0-)

They just can't, because it is too goddamn crazy & wrong.  This is America; the only truth the avg. person will accept is that government is just inherently incompetent, not that half of it is determined to make it so for their own gain.  Public incredulity is their prime defense.

It really isn't about more & better Democrats anymore; it's about politically, culturally destroying the GOP & their corporate funders.  Of course, their minions are more into literally destroying the librul guvmint with an armed insurrection.  Fun times ahead.

It's time to start letting sleeping dinosaurs lie, lest we join them in extinction by our consumption of them.

But they certainly can, and may well, not vote for the PERSON who has pissed them off.

If enough on one side lie to get in office and then turn around and do crap they never even hinted at (and that's what most have done), it might spread to others in the party.

But we have to point out that the behavior isn't limited to one person, but infects most who are running under the GOP label.

        That's the hard part.

unfortunate, even dismal, situation that is made necessary by a party of loons at war with themselves to the detriment of the nation and its citizens. From a comment I made days ago:

Most voters still have not gotten the message that support of any TP/GOP candidate, in any election, aids the continued control of power levers sufficient to cause this kind of shit. Yeah, I'll admit that probably somewhere, hidden in some cranny there is a candidate that is a "good gooper"—but that candidate will vote to keep bad goopers in sufficient power to either enact batshit bizarre stuff or derail good stuff being worked by opponents.

For the time being, and I do hope it is not too long, the only good gooper is a politically dead gooper.

At this point in our political life, except in the few very solidly and firmly fixed "blue" areas—and remember, we once thought of places such as Minnesota and Wisconsin as pretty "blue"—all the discussion about better Democrats at the general election stage is essentially selling out to TP/GOP control. The "better" is great at primary level, unless it puts at risk a sure fire seat, but to sit out or otherwise fail at that other necessary function of elections, flush the toilet on the crap the other side is putting up:
All we can do is flush because otherwise the shit gets overwhelming. Not as nice as having a choice of a good and better meal, but a very necessary civic duty.
The TP/GOP shit has built up to a critical, even dangerous level for the nation's future well being and it must be flushed in 2013/2014 at every possible level.

The only foes that threaten America are the enemies at home, and those are ignorance, superstition, and incompetence. [Elbert Hubbard]
