Me, my angry diary gets    mocked as "antiObama".

    DK is Obama worshippers now?
He doesn't want that, ansd neither should we roll over like pigeons and ignorant sheep.

What a travesty and a shameful place the Daily Kos has become. I say with with sorrow, not as whine.

...I am against many things Obama is for. I'm happy he's president and not Romney -- there is a real difference. The imposition of some sort of weird binary choice (obamasux/obamarox) from either "side" to shut down inconvenient conversation simply is not going to work on me. That is occasionally a source of friction!

because people disagree with your diary and express themselves as emotionally as do you.

The suggestions you offer have already been on the table, they are not new, and there is no groundswell of support for them.  You offer nothing that has a chance at becoming real, except that you offer it in an anonymous diary filled with righteous anger.  Still doesn't solve anything, but it makes you feel better.  Ranting doesn't solve anything, it just makes one personally feel as if you are actually doing something meaningful.

I actually agree with you that the continued imprisonment of men for whom there is no legal justification for imprisonment  (at Gitmo or anywhere) is a travesty.  That's a real travesty.  People trashing your diary or disagreeing with you in not a travesty, it's just angering to you personally.

I wish you did have a solution, I really do.  Because what our nation is doing is immoral and indefensible.  It may be explainable as many have done in the comments, but it is not, and will never be, morally or ethically defensible.

by those cleverer and wiser than I, not "explanations".

Explanations about why these things don't get fixed are a form of denial or avoidance of the reality there is no real effort to fix them.

Obama has prosecuted several whistle blowers, none more outrageous than Private Bradley Manning who is facing the death penalty for providing minor level classified material including how Obama pulled Bush's nuts out of the fire of a war crimes trial about to start in Spain.
Something our complicit and failed media didn't want to touch.
He was at the Bush Lie Brary travesty dedication and even gave a praiseworthy speech. It would have been volumes of comment if he had said very little, and let the other effulgent, and bombastic praise make the point of how absurd worshipping the junior Bush was and is for us as a country.  Obama just reduced himself finally to Bush's level, by his defense of him and HIS ACCEPTANCE of him in toto.  The Bush powers, the Bush legacy?

BHO needs these special powers to continue the empire with all that it implies.

Just as they (NYT and other papers of record) delayed at the Pentagon's request  for over a year the Abu Ghraib scandal, and even helped Bush's election chances by staying mum on several scandal and war crimes in Iraq in early and late 2004  , we have fallen into the compliant act here at DK.

And I get the finger waggers and those in denial about how hapless and low they  and we  have sunk.

No wonder people leave in droves.  Self respect and the obvious can only be avoided so long.

        •  True if you feel you compromise your integrity (0+ / 0-)

by engaging in conversations with those who disagree with you or who disagree with your need to disrespect others to prove your emotions, then, by all means, do what you must.

I, however, encourage you to slow down, control your emotions, and channel them into constructive dialogue with those whom you wish to persuade.  If you have no interest in persuading those who think differently and merely want to prove you are doing something by ranting, I call that vanity.  You write not to help change the tide of public opinion and influence a morally right outcome, you write then simply to hear yourself shout about how right you and how wrong everyone else is.

You have a point.  I agree with your point that what is going on in Gitmo is a travesty.  The truth is, there are things you can actually do instead of ranting about how much Obama  "needs these special powers to continue the empire" - that kind of language is sophomoric.

If all you do is rant in diaries and comments about how no one else is doing anything, I have news for you, you're not doing anything either, and you are as much a part of the problem as is Obama and DK.  Only you delude yourself into thinking a diary like this is activism - it's not.

          •  There are people who are supposed to be released, (0+ / 0-)

some decided as releaseable as long as one, two, three years ago that have been in limbo because the administration can't decide how to handle a miscarriage of justice.

We, specifically myself as author of this diary  am supposed to be civil and persuasive with people who: weigh in to  this diary to deny and argue my urging Obama to act , as if my doing so is outrageous or disrespectful or out of line or something?  I am not the one in the oubliette, being starved of human contact or allowed to rot away.

I am getting anger and objections for pointing out that inconvenient $#itstain on our justice system.

I cannot do a thing about it, save write or sign the letter Dave Mizner suggested at the top of the thread.

There have been years of letters.  Obama decided to withdraw and leave this alone until the 100 prisoners, nearly all left are on a hunger strike.  If DK, a supposed liberal or prohuman rights site can't be bothered (Gitmo is not sexy enough a subject) then maybe we aren't going have much luck doing serious things, changing for the better are we?

Vote a few more Democrats in in 2014?
get someone in to replace Obama in 2016?
Will that help?  2016 =Seven years in limbo. Maybe if we wait long enough they will all die and the "problem" will solve itself.
