    were at Occupy in Oakland talking about the OPD acting as an occupation force, I kept thinking of the OPD officer I know who has always been a stand-up guy & had a pre-force history of being targeted by racist violence himself. I thought to myself, "He'd never do any of these beatings." That was perhaps naive. Now, however, because of this case I'm asking, "Would he lie to protect a fellow-officer who committed a wrongful shooting?" Given the culture within the OPD, yes, I think he might. That is a scary thought.

      other police for serious misconduct (virtually none, although we now have an officer in the Raheim Brown case who has come forward), the odds are quite good that, yes, your acquaintance would lie to protect a fellow officer.
