    ...this is only my second time using a grid.  I like the results with the Packard and it is working well here.  I may use it from now on with my houses and larger pieces.

      to locate the midpoint of the horizontal and vertical edges, mostly to avoid putting anything important dead-center. But I haven't done any formal grids. It does seem a great way to locate the critical details and features of something more complicated.

      The drawing course I'm taking has so far emphasized taking measurements using your thumb on a pencil or a stick of some kind to get relative dimensions and adding a few plumb lines to make sure it's all lined up correctly. I'm always surprised when it actually works.
