    more political advertising is negative than positive.

    It's an effective answer to doing business as usual. And we have to continue doing business as usual because business as usual will issue us our elected officials whether we participate or not.

    To effect change requires a combination of popular issue movements and a candidate creation movement. You only get better Democrats out of existing Democrats on rare occasion. As the rightwing found out about their party, the way to get more and better from their perspective was to create them, nationwide beginning at the entry level at the state and local level, down to school boards and such.

    We have a number of popular movements. They need to keep on pushing their respective issues but we need more teaming up to find, draft and create candidates for office.

    I don't think dKos is a type of institution likely to be very good at creating candidates. It's more built around the premise that the biggest failing of the system is lack of knowledge and good arguments on the part of press and officials. That's not the case, the problem is both have hostile intent.

    The focus on hostile intent can help get the best or least-worst results out of business as usual, but it may not be suited for transformational movement activity.
