    anyone in the trenches; that is a misreading of the situation. He was speaking to labor leaders and other heads of organized groups outside of politics on the left whose job it was to represent those in "the trenches." We don't have those anymore . . .

      But, unfortunately, rings true.

      Lobbying efforts - the currently preferred means of influencing policy/legislation - favor those with the deepest pockets.

      We all know where labor and the left are listed in that ranking.

      Unless millions and millions of individual calls/mail messages actually make their way to the pol's office, the electorate is safely (gerrymandering, anyone?) ignored.

      Plus the masses are too easily swayed by fear-mongering and the misinformation campaigns in the MSM (or the NRA's American Rifleman..), guided by the same deep-pocketed lobbyists/special interests.

      We need a really big reset button.

      ..now, where did I leave my torches and villagers?
