who firmly believes it cannot be known, whatever I might wish for in terms of the continuity of souls of my loved ones.

For my own spirit, I don't find the concept of god in major religion or mythology to be satisfying, although I like the idea of mother earth as a living entity ... there is power in a walk through the woods on a sunny day or in a thunderstorm or in a wildflower.

But the stuff spouted as spiritual or "god" by some churches is physically painful to me ... I've been to a number of funerals over the last couple of years (3 of them for my brothers) which had me screaming internally and crying externally. It was really all I could do not to stand up and shout and throw things. I won't go into details now, but I have little tolerance for the rapture believing types.

Right now I'm in the process of making it known that when I die, whenever that may be, there will be absolutely NO "religious" service whatsoever; to make it palatable to my church going relatives I remind them that my g-grandmother was a spirit medium and that I intend to ask her help in haunting anyone who goes against my wishes.  ;)

there is power in a walk through the woods on a sunny day I walked in complete tranquility through the local nature park the other day.  Right up to the moment the damned bumble bee stung me on the behind.  Then the only power I could think about came from ice bags and tylenol.

Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed. --Herman Melville
