Unless you define terms a little better. Which God are you talking about?

Creator of the Universe -- I’m agnostic on this one. I tend to think there was a beginning (the big bang). There might or might not be an end (although our sun will probably run out of energy and either go dark or explode, so the earth will eventually end). I don’t know if there was some intelligent creator that created something out of nothing. And there’s no way to know.

Creator of our planet and earth and sea and humans, animals, plants, and so on -- you mean the Christian myth in Genesis? There are actually two different stories of creation in Genesis. In one, men and women are created at the same time. In the other, there was one man and the woman was created from his rib. I don’t really believe either one.

Rule maker I doubt it. Here I’m talking about rules like “Thou shalt not kill” (really good idea, but maybe a few exceptions), don’t wear clothes of two different fabrics (what?), don’t mix meat and dairy (I like with the idea of not using the mother’s milk to cook the dead baby animal), no pork and no shrimp (which might have made sense because pork can have trichina worms that make you sick and because fatty meat goes bad without refrigeration, but no), if a neighbor borrows an ephah of barley, you can’t break into his house and take it back (I can imagine Moses sighing and saying, “OK, here’s a new rule that God just told me to tell you. You can’t break into someone’s house just because he borrowed some food.” So it‘s a Moses rule, not a God rule), or something crazy like menstruating women are unclean and have to move to a separate house (what?). There are a zillion rules in the Bible. Some make sense; some don’t.

Controller of weather and natural phenomena I absolutely don’t believe that during a battle between the Israelites and someone else, the sun stopped moving in the sky. It has to be a metaphor. And it pisses me off when Christians say a hurricane or earthquake or blizzard was aimed at gay people.

The Santa Claus guy you can ask for presents Praying is something about which I have mixed emotions. I think praying can be something that’s helpful if it makes you think about something so you can figure it out (you pray for a new job, you pray for patience in dealing with someone who irritates you, you pray for guidance in making a decision). But on the other hand, I don’t like the Santa Claus aspect of asking for something. Hey, give me money! Hey, make my baseball team win! Hey, make my skin rash go away!

The Hater I don’t believe in the God who hates people because they're in the wrong religion.

Here’s a video of a Tom Lehrer song from the 1960s (very snarky):

Oh, the Protestants hate the Catholics,
And the Catholics hate the Protestants,
And the Hindus hate the Muslims,
    And everybody hates the Jews.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
    It's National Everyone-smile-at-one-another-hood Week.
    Be nice to people who
    Are inferior to you.
It's only for a week, so have no fear.
Be grateful that it doesn't last all year!

That’s not really about God. That’s about religion. And religions that hate other religions.

So that‘s my answer to you

I think there might be a God. Maybe not a Christian God. But there’s something in my heart that tells me to do the right thing and to treat others as I’d want to be treated (the golden rule -- or karma). And it’s not a good idea to kill people. And be nice. Be polite. Consider the other person’s point of view. And don’t hate people. But, on the other hand, I love to eat bacon. And shrimp.

I don’t know if God exists. Probably not. But if I live according to ethical standards, I may get into heaven anyway. If there is a heaven.
